NEW FEATURE! As promised, here is the first of the many round-ups to come. This one is particularly important with 3 landmarks. Heroes returns after a very crappy Volume, Chuck comes back in 3D and House is 100 episodes old. Aww. Jack Bauer however is just kicking ass as per usual, taking down one terrorist at a time. So lets begin with Heroes.

Heroes

This is the premiere of the latest volume, Fugitives. As the title suggests, the ‘Heroes’ we’ve grown to love (hate) are or will be outcast from society, by the evil mastermind that is Nathan Petrelli. Before I get into the actual episode, Nathan is a very complex character; in Volume One he was manipulated into allowing New York to be destroyed, yet at the last minute came back to save everyone. Volume Two he was the good guy, looking for his brother and coming to grips with what had happened previously. Volume Three, Nathan was a holy man, bought back from the dead to do God’s bidding, but he quickly overcame it and joined his Brother and Mother in an attempt to bring down his Father’s company. BUT wait, he saw some terrible things in Haiti and joins his Father as the front man of Pinehearst. After his plans are foiled, he takes to the skies, gets close to the President and begins to slap the cuffs on every super-powered human other than himself, his mother and daughter. Now we’re in Volume Four.

Chapter One - A Clear and Present Danger

The episode on a whole was decent. Like the guys at IGN said, if you just accept where the characters are now and discredit how they got there, the story seems to work. And if you do it that way, it definitely does. But the events of Volume Three are left clawing at you when you witness certain things in the episode. Especially Matt and Daphne, who are living together in NY (where did Molly go?) and the relationship still seems as stupid as it did last volume. One thing about Matt this episode is that he keeps seeing the African (The guy who could paint the future and was then killed by Arthur Petrelli), whom informs him that he is the newest profit. This for me was the low point in the episode. Matt can now draw the future as well as read minds? How? The development of the character from Mind Reading Cop to Much Younger Girl Loving Jesus is just ridiculous.

Hiro and Ando are less annoying, but parts of their dialogue and character change were stupid. Ando said he has a crappy power and then tries to pick up chicks with it? The fuck? I did think the whole costume thing was funny, and was a nod toward what I’ve wanted to see for a long time. The show is about heroes, yet there isn’t one who has donned a cape and attempted to protect humanity, it seems kind of stupid to be honest, especially since the show is heavily influenced by the comic book world. One other thing I will get off my chest is Tracy, she shouldn’t be in Heroes. Ali Larter should not have come back once Niki died. (In reality Niki shouldn’t have died at all…) So when her character got attacked at the beginning of the episode, I was happy, and was hoping she would be killed off, but alas it’s not meant to be. And so the first of the Fugitives is captured!

Peter is alot better this season, although his little speech about how he needs to be stronger to save people was annoying, hasn’t he been saying that since Volume One? Mohinder however has improved tenfold. I hated his character last volume for the drastic changes that the writers gave him, and with him back as a Taxi driver with superhuman strength, it’s just damn awesome. The scene when he rips off the door and slams it into the guys skull was excellent, not to mention when Mohinder meets Noah (one of my favourite characters).

However, Noah has changed. His original agenda with the company was to take down the bad guys and help the good guys. But now it just seems like he’s out to get every super-powered human other than his adoptive daughter. As usual then.

The story of the episode involves Nathan distributing a task force across the globe to take down each of the ‘heroes’ that he knows of. This includes Tracy, Peter, Matt, Hiro, Mohinder and various others who we don’t know yet, or just haven’t been revealed. Obviously Claire gets involved in her annoying little way, although the way she can actually fight her way out of battles definitely makes her more interesting than she was. Her obsession with Sylar is getting a little annoying, everything bad seems to be Sylar, everything. Speaking of the man himself, Sylar has a pretty cool storyline at the moment, and the way he fought off the Nathan Squad was awesome, even if he spams like 3 of the 20 powers he has. The episode ends with the fugitives on a cargo plane going somewhere, which Claire sneaks onto and attempts to rescue her uncle and friends. It is here we discover Peter has to touch people to use their powers, almost like an inbetween of his old power and his fathers power. Alot like Rogue from X-Men I guess. The plane begins to go down and we are left with scenes of Peter holding on for dear life.

I could fly out of here, but that would be too simple...

So overall the episode was enjoyable. Although I’ve heard the volume itself has a good beginning, but a bad middle, I’m just hoping it doesn’t disappoint too much. But if it does, there is more for me to bitch about. So this week, Heroes didn’t put me in a bad mood….

Chuck did.

First of all, let me warn you. The episode is in 3D. I don’t know why NBC went with that gimmick, but whatever, Chuck is awesome, and Yvonne Strahovski in 3D = Probably one of the best things ever. Yes she is fucking hot. HOT. And I’m sure in 3D I would have exploded. I tried honest, I tried to make 3D glasses, but it just didn’t work. And for that reason alone, Chuck put me in a bad mood.

Those were some bad mushrooms.

So after failing at making 3 different pairs of 3D glasses/pieces of plastic, I decided to try and enjoy it without. And to be honest, it was still a damn good episode. I don’t think there are any episodes of Chuck that I haven’t enjoyed, the acting is great, the characters are great, the stories are goofy but cool at the same time, and it has action. Chuck is the show I can relax and watch. It’s not like Lost where you are trying to remember where you saw that guy before while working out what 4+8+15+16+23+42 x 815 = ? Plus there is some damn hot women. Yvonne Strahovski is but one of the two, the other being Sarah Lancaster, who plays Ellie, Chucks older sister, who in turn is engaged to Captain Awesome, probably my favourite character on the show.

So on to the episode at hand, Chuck vs. The Third Dimension

After the short scene of Morgan telling you to put on the 3D glasses, you get one very, very, very hot scene of Chuck in bed. But Chuck is not the object of hotness in this scene (although Zachary Levi is damn fine for a man… ._.), no, I am talking about this:

Yes, this is why I was so pissed off when I couldn’t make my 3D glasses. Damn things. I hate you NBC. Anyway, back to the topic. The story centers around Chuck wanting a day off from Spying etc. (What’s new?) and upon going into work finds out that rock star Tyler Martin (Dominic Monaghan) is coming to the Buy More. After an attempt on his life is made, the trio (Chuck, Sarah and Casey) kidnap Tyler and take him to Casey’s pad for safety. Chuck and Tyler end up partying the night away and hooking up with two super hot assassin chicks, who try to kill Chuck in just his boxers. It is then later found out that Tyler has super secret nuclear plans hidden in his tattoos, and the foursome take on the killer who is after the rocker. All ends well and Chuck confronts Sarah about his problem with her cold blooded killing, seriously those two need to just fuck already… So thats the main plot in a nutshell. Various other happenings occur at the Buy More, especially now Big Mike’s just-released-from-prison-friend is working there, with Morgan, Lester and Jeff providing comedy gold as per usual.

We must get the ring back to the island?

I guess I don’t really have too much to say about Chuck other than go watch it. NBC are probably going to have to cancel a shitload this coming season, and please don’t let it be Chuck. As for the episode itself, it wasn’t mind-blowing, but was still awesome, only gripe is without 3D there are Blue and Yellow Lines everywhere, which can get annoying at times, but serves me right for not being in the US I guess. =[

And thats the Monday Night Round-Up. Since I completely forgot House was already back, I still need to catch up, and I’m only 2 episodes behind on 24 so I’ll probably do a 24/House post with the Lost one on Thursday, or tomorrow, depending on how much free time I have.

I’m definitely hoping to keep this up, it will let me vent on the shows a little more than I did previously when I first attempted. Speaking of TV, that leads me to another topic…

Video Games. Been playing alot of 360 lately, trying to get more achievements. If you’ve come from my Backlog you will notice my note says to get to 10K GamerScore soon. I’m currently at:

So not too far off really. I should have been there ages ago, but I just stopped playing the 360 and then I got a PS3 so that was that. But the expansion for Fallout 3, Operation Anchorage got me back into the 360 and Fallout in particular, which is still awesome. I’m just trying to finish off the side quests, and since we’ve had 2 snow days over here, it’s been perfect for racking up the GamerScore. HOWEVER! I did get a big boost from a certain game that LOVEFiLM sent me last week; LOST: Via Domus (This is where TV was meant to lead me…). The game in whole sucks. But 1000G is pretty damn easy. I only missed two achievements in total and getting them after completing it was quite simple. The ending to that game was horrible though. It’s so ambiguous even I didn’t know what to think.

So I just watched Battlestar Galactica, which is back after a year hiatus between Season 4 Part 1 and Part 2 which started to air last night in the US. That show is so damn good, yet also very depressing. I think I could have cried at certain points in that episode. The episode mainly revolved around the after effects of the Colonial Fleet finally reaching Earth, where they found fuck all and I’m not going to spoil it, but the final Cylon’s identity had me do a WTF flip. Other than my love for BSG today, I’ve been gaming on and off. Setting up the 360 in my room left me with a ‘Strict’ NAT connection to live, so I couldn’t join parties nor chats, which sucked, so I eventually put it back downstairs for the weekend, and played a bit of Horde with my friend and 3 complete strangers. Let me just say, Gears of War 2 is OVERRATED. It’s just a pretty shooter, thats all. But it can be fun to play with friends, and Horde is definitely one of the best features of the game. 

Blue Dragon also found its way into my machine after about a year of not playing. I seem to be stuck on the second disc though, there’s a timer which counts down (I think you have an hour) and I have to get through Nene’s (The bad guy) Fortress. Pretty simple right? Not for me. D: It’s not that I suck at RPG’s, but occasionally I will get bored of battles and flee or try to avoid them as much as possible, which is clearly what happened to me in Blue Dragon. At the boss fight on the Fortresses 2nd floor I keep getting owned. I can manage to kill 1 of the 4 robot guys, and then DEFEATED. >_< In the end I decided to screw it and just start on Lost Odyssey, which I’m not far enough in to give any opinion on.

On the PS3 however, I’ve still got Valkyria Chronicles on the go (which I plan to play for a good 40 or so minutes before I leave for work) and I’ll probably do some form of post on soon. If you haven’t played that game, please go and play it. It’s probably the best Strategy RPG I’ve played in a long time, considering I usually hate any form of Tactical Role Playing Game. And since this post seems to have gotten very RPG related, LOVEFiLM (They’re like Netflix but British) still haven’t sent my copy of Persona 3 out. >_> I know I don’t have a PS2 to play it on, but I’m working on it! I might just wait until I get paid on Friday and order Persona 3 FES from Amazon. I really want to play that game. ;_;

What I don’t get is how in 5-10 minutes can I type all this crap and yet I still haven’t been able to finish my Geography essay that was due in 2 weeks ago? Gawd I’m lazy.

Thats taken from my door, in the little corner where my book/game/dvd shelf lies, as you can see, my bedroom is very, very messy. TIME FOR ANOTHER!

Damn, my secret is out. Now everyone knows I'm Indiana Jones...

And thats right by my bed, taken from where the iMac is. Why the Fedora is there, I have no clue. And there is much more shit underneath the bed itself. Anyway, I still haven’t got to the point…. THE POINT! Well, it is that I can’t find my damn DS Charger. I’ve looked around a couple of times and nada. Obviously it’s not the only reason I want to tidy up, I mean, I don’t like living like this. I would like to take the 360 out and set it up to that TV at some point (360 is currently hiding in the PS3 box) and then change some stuff around in my room, but I can only do this if it’s tidy. 

The reason behind the reason is to play Chrono Trigger. I downloaded it before Christmas, and played it on the car journey up to the relatives, where I got to the boss just as you escape the Prison. It’s there that the DS shut itself down and I realised I didn’t bring the charger up with me. So thats where I’ve been for almost a month now in Chrono Trigger, which makes me sad. Also on my DS is Final Fantasy IV, which is one of my favourite RPGs, but I just need to grind and get through the Tower of Zot. D: Just for the record, I am a DS Pirate. Think of me what you will, but the last game I actually bought for the DS was Final Fantasy III (another which I still need to beat). Dammit, I really want to play the DS now.

I just realised I haven’t actually played a game today, which also makes me sad. Probably go do another few Chapters on Valkyria Chronicles (which is an awesome game by the way), if I can be bothered to switch on the PS3. I guess this post will only be short for now, might do another update later. I need to study for a law exam tomorrow. Just trying now to get this in my Backloggery… but for some reason the feed won’t work… Meh, I’ll sort it later. [EDIT]  FIXED! Got the feed to work. It’s because while I didn’t know what to do with the blog I set it to private… >_< 

Right, so I’m currently about 3/4 of the way through tidying my room. Damn it was actually worse than it looked. I tried to tidy up inside my wardrobe too, while stuffing more crap in there. Great news though! Still no sign of the charger, so I’ve probably lost it which is pissing me off. Must.Find.It. At least I can see the floor now. =D

After this, I’m going to set up the 360 and bridge the connection with my iMac, which will make do for now. OH SHIT! That reminded me, I rented out Naruto: Rise of a Ninja about a month ago from LOVEFiLM and still need to play, maybe I’ll do some of that. :3 I still need to get a Gold membership again, and since I don’t get paid til next week, guess I’ll have to wait a while. Ah well. 

Thats me for now I guess, didn’t want to create a new post just for that so I’ll either do one later or tomorrow morning. Later.

So without further waffle, I am Nate. “Hi Nate!” I hear you say. (Honest to god I am not following you…). This blog (Season Cancelled) is generally going to be about the stuff that currently interests me, and probably small rants about all the crap that seems to happen to me. Just so you know, my one major interest is Video Gaming. I love it. Loads. There will probably be something about games in every post but again I don’t want to confine myself to one topic, plus there are already too many VG Blogs, and one in particular that I love. Secondly, I enjoy films. My room is filled with DVD’s, both movies and TV boxsets, last year was pretty much my movie year. I used to watch one DVD a day after school, and then when I ran out of new films, I’d buy 5 more. Thats why I was always broke.

I also take Media Studies at school, so anything to do with that will probably go in here too, just because my teacher will love me for having a blog (or think I am incredibly sad…). By the way, I hate school, with a passion. For me it feels like wasted time now. I have decent grades, and I don’t really need the extra as I’m not even bothering with University. But I only have around 5 months left, so I may as well stick to it now.

I guess thats really it for this opening post. I’ll probably do an update later, most likely about Games. I plan to link this from my Backloggery, so if you’ve come from there, you should know what I’m currently playing. I’ll probably link my backloggery somewhere over there     –>                     too if you are interested. And thats that. Hopefully this time I keep this up. I find it quite calming typing like this, plus it helps pass the time a little, especially since I can’t play any of my consoles at the moment because the living room is being used. D:
